Hi guys, today I will try to explain what is “two-factor authentication” or also known as 2FA
To keep it simple, it is a mechanism that will enhance the protection against hacker that would like to gain access to your online accounts
The way it is working is in addition to your normal username and password, 2FA will add a 3rd step to the authentication process
This 3rd step is one of the best ways to protect your accounts against hackers because it is usually an additional confirmation that you need to confirm that this is really you attempting to log in to your account services.
Example: Let say that you enable 2FA on your online bank account.
Then, when you connect to your online bank account next time, after entering your classic username and password, your bank will send you a text message on your own mobile phone with a specific code to enter.
You can see right there how powerful this technique is against hackers.
Suppose that someone got access to your username and password, it will be very unlikely that they also have stolen your phone and phone number.
Hence, a very easy and powerful way to protect yourself in regards to digital piracy
