What is the cloud? Part 1: The cloud and your device
Hi guys, many of you are asking me what is the cloud, should I use it…
This is a big subject and I will break it down into different topics.
The cloud and your device
Ok so you’ve already heard about it, people are using this word ( “The cloud”) to describe the magicks on how they can access their photo from everywhere, or how they can access their favorite tv show everywhere and anytime.
You can see the cloud as a group of servers owned by the service that you are using, to store your personal information on it, often seamlessly.
This cloud is accessible when you’re connected to the internet and your device (phone, tablet) is constantly connected to it.
The cloud allows you to seamlessly transfer your email, photo, password, text, document on the cloud, so it can be accessible on another device (computer, tv, smartwatch, smart tv) when you need it.
Some example of what the cloud allows you to do:
- if you create a note on your phone, you can access this note from your computer
- If you purchase a movie on your smart tv, you can continue to watch it on another device later like your phone.
- If you happen to lose your phone, you can recover all of its content with cloud backup
- If you take pictures on your phone, but your device itself doesn’t have enough storage space to store it, this will be automatically transferred to the cloud, giving you the possibility of “unlimited storage”.
So these are some examples to name a few of how powerful the cloud can be for you.
For security awareness, just be aware that your data is not only on your device but on the cloud service provider that you’re using, which I will cover in-depth later in another blog pat.
Hope this was helpful.
